Ela Tenecha village, nestled in the high-altitude coffee-growing region of Yirgacheffe, is known for its cool climate and unique landrace varieties—particularly Kurume, which thrives in this environment. Born and raised in this coffee-farming community, Bogale Galacha grew up deeply involved in his family’s coffee farm. With a keen interest in coffee varieties, Bogale became locally regarded as a coffee "breeder," often advising fellow farmers on varietal selection. Over time, he refined his own 3.39-hectare farm to feature Kurume and 74110—both prized for their quality and adaptability.

When he started his own family, Bogale inherited around 1.5 hectares of land. Breaking from local tradition, he prioritized education over family labor, investing most of his income in sending his

children to school. That investment paid off—his eldest son earned a postgraduate degree in plant breeding and now teaches at Dilla University.

Though Bogale is now among the oldest farmers in the area and faces some health challenges, he remains active in coffee farming. His children now help maintain the farm’s productivity and quality. Through his dedication, Bogale has become a consistent supplier of exceptional specialty coffee to the international market via G Broad.
